Building Economic Inclusion, Dignity & Self-Reliance
Across Sub-Saharan Africa, millions of refugees and displaced persons live in prolonged dependency within camps and host communities. Although displaced populations bring rich talent, professional experience, and entrepreneurial drive, systemic barriers such as financial exclusion, limited access to formal credit, language and market barriers, and restricted livelihoods keep them dependent on diminishing humanitarian aid.
Treating displacement exclusively as a humanitarian crisis ignores the immense productive potential of displaced communities. When provided with market-aligned vocational and digital skills, seed capital, structured mentorship, and legal financial pathways, refugees transition from aid recipients into active business owners, job creators, and contributors to local economic development.
To advance lasting economic inclusion, dignity, and self-reliance, Prime Corporation Foundation (PCF) is launching the Refugees Inclusion & Economic Participation Project (2027–2032). Headquartered in Kigali, Rwanda, PCF is mobilizing a USD 1B+ five-year multi-partner fund and execution strategy. In Rwanda, the project targets refugees residing across Mahama, Gihembe, Nyabiheke, Kigeme, Kiziba, and Mugombwa refugee camps alongside surrounding host communities, establishing a scalable, evidence-based model for displacement settings across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The initiative deploys a multi-dimensional economic empowerment framework: pairing digital and vocational TVET training with financial inclusion, micro-enterprise incubation, and host-community cooperative integration. By strengthening social cohesion, creating joint economic ventures, and reducing reliance on traditional aid systems, PCF restores human dignity while driving shared economic growth for refugees and host populations alike.
